CoherenceEach of the disciplines will be engaged in various activities and research in order to achieve a unified product. The ideas explored through the disciplines are connected by the project in that the students assume the role of researchers investigating sustainability within their Districts. Each activity feeds into this theme and will accumulate as the final presentation and portfolio. The disciplines also build off of each other in order to achieve a greater understanding for students. For example, in mathematics, students will build off their knowledge of climatographs in science in order to further analyze and understand the concepts of graphing. In English Language Arts, students will reflect on their learning and understanding of sustainability as it has been formed from their exploration in science and social studies. In physical education, students will use their science research on plants, animals, energy transfers, and adaptations along with the research they have started on environmental issues in order to design a game that connects the materials. Finally, through the fine arts, as they use their accumulated knowledge across disciplines in the creation of an art project that represents their newly cultivated ideas on sustainability.
